Jaimala or the Exchange of Garlands

The bride and groom exchange flower garlands (usually made of marigolds, lotus, jasmine and roses) as a gesture of accepting and respecting one another. Garlands are symbols of love.
In India male members of both families throw flower petals on the bride and groom as symbols of life without sorrow and troubles.
